Sumo wrestling not only can be practiced with a professional sumo but also an amateur sumo. This kind of wrestler can only participants in college, high school and grade school in Japan. There are also Amateur Sumo Tournaments that open to all participants and the winner can be allowed to enter a professional sumo divisions depending on their qualification and level. 

 

In addition, this kind of sport also attract people in different countries and Amateur Sumo clubs are gaining popularity in United States with competitions regularly being held in major cities across the country. For example, there were amateur sumo match that been held in the Los Angeles Convention Centre in front of 3000 audience that runs with US people beside Japanese. This shows how popular it’s grown globally in sport that promotes their culture and the background of sumo sports.
