Apart from sumo tournaments, there are other interesting things that
related to sumo that can be an attraction in our eyes. For the people that
admire sumo sports can visit their stable to witness their practice session as
well to appreciate their hardworking performance. Sumo stables are where the
wrestlers live and train together and there are about forty stables which
located in the Greater Tokyo Region, especially in Tokyo Ryogoku district. To
visit their stables, the visitors must be accompanied by a person who fluent in
Japanese and familiar with their custom. By visiting their stables, we can know
their daily life and things that they do to be a professional sumo wrestlers.
There
are also other attraction that may interest to sumo fans such as Sumo Museum
that includes a collection of portraits of past and present yokozuna, a
pictures of significance events in the history of sumo and ceremonial aprons
worn by retired prominent wrestlers.
Besides that, sumo fans can witnessed the
first places the sumo tournaments ever take places which is at Ekoin Temple and
today they can see a stone monument on the temple grounds that honours past
wrestlers and stable master.
Also, to have a taste of sumo, visitors can went to
a famous Chanko Nabe Restaurants. This restaurants preparing the staple food of
sumo wrestler which is a hot pot dish comes with varieties of vegetables,
seafood and meat. These places are some of the few attraction of sumo and we
can gain experience and able to have a better understanding about the
uniqueness of Sumo.
