Sumo Divisions

For this entry, I found out that Sumo has six divisions. As for that, I will write about the divisions of sumo fighter in the sport. These divisions are makuuchi (maximum 42 wrestlers), juryo (fixed at 28 wrestlers), makushita (fixed at 120 wrestlers), sandanme (fixed at 200 wrestlers), jonidan (approximately 185 wrestlers) and jonokuchi which includes (approximately 40 wrestlers).
Each wrestler enter the professional sport in the lowest division which is jonokuchi and works his way up from division to divison to reach the highest two divisons known as sekitori and the lower divisions are called rikishi. Fans of the sport pay most attention to the makuuchi division as it has the most complex hierarchy and most of this wrestlers are called maegashira rated with number 1 being the best and number seventeen being the worst. There are three champion ranks that are above the prestige of these wrestlers that are known as sanyaku. From the top to the bottom, these champion ranks are komusubi, sekiwake and the ozeki. The very top ranks is yokozuna, the grand champion and the top titles in sumo tournaments and very difficult to make it into yokozuna. All of this divisions are like a stairs to reach the top and become the strongest of them all to gain attention and reward. This divisions help the wrestler to practice with their own level of strength so they be able to improve their skills on form. This is all the information on divisions that I can share to you and I wish you able to compared and identify the division on certain Sumo wrestler.
