A lot of people doesn't know the income of a sumo wrestler and the
payment they receive for their match. Because of that, I will explain in this
blog about their salary and payment for their work as a sumo wrestler. The
payment their receives is depends on their sumo title which means the top
division get the highest salary and the lowest get little salary. As we all
know, Japanese currency on money is yen and the salary they receives is divided
with their ranking. For a top sumo wrestler that rank as a yokozuna they
receive 2,820,00 about US$30,500, ozeki 2,347,000 about US$25,000, san’yaku
1,693,000 about US$18,000, maegashira 1,309,000 about US$14,000 and juryo
1,036,000 about US$11,000. Where wrestlers who lower than the second division
that considered to be trainees receive only a fairly small allowance instead of
salary. As for that, we know that they can receive more money by increase their
division ranking and be the top of the hierarchy to obtain a lot more payment.
